? What is Ferrocement?
:- Ferrocement is an advanced form of RCC with higher percentage of reinforcing steel. It is      made by applying rich cement mortar over a steel armature.

:- RCC absorbs and emits heat in a large volume. Amount of heat depend on the quantity of concrete. Normally RCC structures will be massive and the heat absorbed will be more and it will emit heat for a longer time in a larger volume. During day time it will absorb and starts emitting heat as it is a good conductor of heat. In a given atmospheric temperature concrete buildings produce more heat compared to tiled or thatched one.

? How Ferrocement building reduces room temperature?
:- Concrete as well as ferrocement absorb and emit heat. For same sized rooms the quantity of materials used will be five fold in the case of RCC compared to ferrocement structure. Hence the heat absorption and emission will also be more in the case of RCC building. This emission of heat is the cause of high room temperature in RCC rooms.

:- Ferrocement requires fewer materials for constructing same sized structure and this indeed will reduce the cost of construction.

:- Ferrocement requires fewer materials for constructing same sized structure which means that the construction materials such as metal, sand, cement are consumed considerably less. Hence natural resources can be preserved to the maximum which in turn maintain the ecological balance of the planet.

:- Natural resources are limited and requirement is increasing day by day. When we go for costly technology the energy input will be more which indirectly consumes more natural resources. In order to preserve at least some part of these resources for our coming generations we should give due care in handling these matters. :- Cost of construction depends on several things. To construct a certain sized building in a particular place depending on the type, material, method, the cost of construction will be different. Nature of land also affects total cost of construction. But what is important is that, before going for a particular material or a particular method or certain type of construction, make sure that it is absolutely necessary.
